I know this topic has been put up before on several occasions, but I am having trouble finding the thread.

I just got a 1648 boat and I would like to try and figure out a way to put a blind on it relatively inexpensively. (maybe PVC or conduit).

If someone has links to older threads or another site to give me some ideas it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Wynne

I don't have a boat but the simplest one I've seen was PVC pipe made into a rectangle the size of the boat with T-fittings strategically placed so they would attach to riser poles around the boat.

You would lift up the rectangular frame and put the bottom part of the T-fitting on top of the riser poles. The camo netting stayed on the riser poles.

Use netting that is plastic or water resistant. You don't want it absorbing water.

Ask FowlDreams, I think he had that on one of his boats.

I wander if the scissor blind would work for a 12ft jon boat?

My goal for my blind was to be able to erect it from inside the boat because of the wind. I also wanted two hights for laying down or sitting. I have rebuilt the blind for my boat evey year, working out the kinks. I am finally happy after trying every type of "homade blind". The best blind I made was just as TexasEd discribed. Easy in and out, and sturdy but took too long to set up and had a lot of pieces. I had to do it from the outside and sometimes the water was too deep where I hunt.
The scissor blind was the almost perfect set up. I made it out of pvc, made hinges out of scrap and bolts. The hinges are attached to a board running across the front/back of the boat. I attatched them to a board so I could off-set the blind from the center giving me a side (the tall side)that is easier to get in and out of. Getting in and out is the only issue with this set up. I drilled two sets of holes in the "X" for pins that give me two hights. I put "T's" on the horizontal runs that go the length of the boat for supports that go vertically from the boat to the "T". The top flap is just bolted to the tall side to make a hinge, "L" brackets keep the thing from over hingeing. Works for me, hope it helps

The whole thing is zip tied to the frame. To hold the material down for my jon, I made horseshoe shaped rods that clamp over the gunnel well. Then thead the rod trough a hole in the cammo. My Buster has a lip all the way around and I use those big paper clamps to hold the material down.
