30 in 2 days. Flushed one covey of quail. We were hunting near Larned. I think that's about the same as we did last year.

We averaged about 2 pretty birds per hunter for the whole weekend, but about 3 times that in quail. And that was from the Milo fields. We saw lots of quail this year. Kiowa County.

125 pheasants, 2 day hunt. 20 guys the first day and 18 guys the second.
1 quail.
We had one field with about 500 birds in it. It was like a war zone.
99% the fields were harvested. The fields that were not was where the birds were the first day. The second day it they were in the harvested fields.
We were South of Ulysses and North of Hugoton.

Went around Hays with a group of about 20. Most got a limit (I got mine on the first field). I left Sunday morning after hitting one field (killed one bird) and and rest limited out after the third field on second day. Pheasants were every where and it helped we had private land to hunt. A buddy of mine also limted out in south central kansas on Pheasant and almost on quail.

Eighteen of us from Texas plus 2 to 10 locals got 55 Saturday and about the same number Sunday near Quinter. It was my 11 month old lab's first hunt and I was real proud of her, but she did steal a few birds from my son-in-law's dog. This was our 11th year there and it was a little better than our normal hunt. Most of the folks at the motel in WaKeeney reported similiar results (except the stealing thing).

We hunted near Dodge City and saw tons of pheasants, just a few coveys of quail. (26) hunters the first day...(94) roosters in the bag. Second day (18) hunted til around 11:00 then the group broke up; took (37) more.
Overall pheasant population was outstanding!!

Ten of us stayed at the Econo Lodge (the old Best Western). One new guy late to commit was at Best Western, and 3 new guys (also late to commit) stayed at Hays where no dogs were allowed. It's hard to find rooms after about September.
