I was reading that they are not legal in Texas to hunt with. True?

i think a bow mounted range finders usefulness is outweighed by its bulk and weight to your bow.

That leupold vendetta is the only one I can find. It's seems pretty awesome, but had a few bad reviews. It got a 3.5 out of 5 stars from 12 people. Some folks were having trouble mounting it on their bow and others had trouble tuning it in.

I was wanting some reviews from my home folks!!!............

I just see it as something to make a more precise and lethal shot. I'll do whatever i can to avoid wounding a deer

I don't think I would trust that. I'll just stick with my normal rangefinder

Don't why I wouldn't trust it, what differnece does it make if I taped my normal rangefinder to my bow or hold it in my hand??? My range finder isn't going to be any more or less accurate just because of what is holding it. I would use it, just don't know if I would run out and by one when I already have my Nikon800. IMOH.
Looked it up and couldn't find ANYTHING in TPWD handbook that makes it illegal. You can't use a laser aiming device that illuminates a visible light or dot on a "listed" game animal. That is not refering to a range finder, but an actual laser light.

TPWD Restricted Methods
Artificial light of any form that casts or reflects a beam of light onto or otherwise illuminates a game animal or bird may not be used as an aid to hunt, except battery-powered scoping devices that project a light or dot only inside the scope; pin sight lights on archery equipment; or laser sighting devices used by legally blind hunters, or hunters who have a documented permanent physical disability that prevents them from using traditional firearm sighting devices.

"illuminates a game animal"

I say not illegal...!!! But I'm not your Game Warden...

I just looked at it again on the website. It has a laser beam on it. I am assuming that would be for sighting in or something but does that make it illeagle. I don't care because I can't afford one but don't want anyone to get in trouble.

Found out about the laser beam also,so that is that...guess that is what makes it illegal whether you use it or not.

I'll get with the local GW and let y'all know. I like the idea as long as it's legal. I think it'd be a good tool. I don't worry about Pope and Yound anyways. I shoot big game for myself, not everyone else.

If it's got a laser beam then theoretically you could sight it in to where the laser is an aiming device.

I would say it would be illegal because of the laser. Wouldn't think you even have to call the warden for this one.

Tell you the truth I don't see the difference between a laser and peep sights though. They achieve the same result.

Sent this question to TPWD and they replied with the definition listed above out of the manual. Its ILLEGAL on game animals. You can use for non-game animals, ie. Pigs
