Opening weekend was busy...lots of young bucks were out as well as plenty of does. But,was really quiet in our section last weekend....very few shots Saturday and Sunday, except for the duck hunters! I took a young doe that had its left rear leg injured....probably by a barbed wire fence. That was the only deer I saw all weekend - except when it was too dark to shoot!

My buddies hunted all last week and didnt see much. Said the little bucks were chasing the does. I think the goofy weather has them confused.

Any of y'all hunt around Duster? My family owns some property a couple of miles south of there towards Comanche off FM2247.

We haven't hunted it in 20 years, but used to be alot of deer back when we still grew peanuts and watermelons.

I don't deer hunt I around Duster, but I do hog hunt. I know there are tons of deer in that area though. I hunt along the government land on the Sabanna River on hwy 16 headed towards Comanche. I shot an old nasty 20 point this weekend with a 19.5 in. spread. I'll post some pics this afternoon.

From what I heard the price is up on peanuts and a lot of people are gonna plant next year. They say it'll be like it was back in the 80s.

Man I hope so. That whole area took a real hit when the peanut market got suppressed especially Gorman.

Light Foot, you mentioned hunting near the old Suggs Cemetary in Comanche....My G/Grandparents are buried in that old Cemetary, and I've always wanted to roam around Sweetwater Creek, and that area, just to see what they were faced with there.....can you tell me if one needs permission to do such as that in the area, and if so, who I can contact? Thanks, Norm
