how do you mean portable. like tent type popup... or do you mean a collapsible wooden blind that one man can take down and move in under 15 minutes...
Stuff my dad said in the deer blind
"I can dive deeper and come up drier" "did you do that?"

Check Sportsmans Guide, they had some specials on the two-man blinds. I bought this one last summer on sale and works very well, easy to set up and take down, and carry..... GROUND BLIND

Don't feel bad... All I have right now is a fold up chair underneath a cleaned up cedar tree, with a little camp netting in front!!!

I just bought an Ameristep Intimitator. I have only used it this season and I really like it. I have seen more deer out of it than I have in my 2 blinds. It's also big enough for two people.

Plan on spending about $150 for a decent 2 man pop up, and be sure to bring shooting sticks, they make all the difference in the world out of a pop up blind

Be sure to try & view the windows. Velcrow attachments can be noisy. I like the silent zippers. Shot a hog in on of mine, then watched it run off & never found it. There goes a $5 broadhead & a $5 arrow.

No taller than you are the deer probably can't see you around your whiskey bottle. Just try to drink slow and in non jerking type movements.Plant your kid next to a tree to break up his outline and it will be all good.

well I was thinking, it might help if you step up to the half gallon sized bottle.

I ordered this one a few weeks ago for $45 from Sportsmans Guide. It's 5' by 5', plenty big for two people. It is one with the spring steel bands inside. Easy to set up and take down (but I recommend you practice once or twice in the driveway before you actually go hunting and try to set it up or break it down in the dark). This one has both the velcro mesh windows as well as the larger zipper windows. What I have learned from using it thus far: Plan on using shooting sticks, and if it is windy, plan on having to stake it down with the included tent stakes. It will try to fly away like a kite if it isn't secured. http://shop.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=716778

The easiest to set up and largest pop up blind I have used is the Predator Den. It is plenty big for you and your son, and you don't have to turn yourself inside out to set it up. It is by far the simplest design I have used.
