What other attractence do you put out other then corn. Last year I put out peanut butter, I think the coons enjoyed it. I put out a salt rock, not sure how that worked.

BESIDES CORN, I KEEP A SALT LICK GOING YEAR AROUND ( DIG A HOLE AND BURY THE SALT THEN POUR WATER ON TOP OF IT) EVENTUALLY IT BECOMES A DEPRESSION AND THERE ARE ALWAYS TRACKS IN AND AROUND IT. I HAVE TRIED PEANUT BUTTER ALSO AND THINK THE COONS ENJOYED IT! JUST FOR THE HECK OF IT I TRIED VANNILLA EXTRACT (SMELLS GOOD TO ME) HAD DEER WALK PAST IT BUT NOT PAY IT MUCH ATTENTION.

NOW DAYS I MAKE MOCK SCRAPES, THE ONE WALL HANGER I HAVE I ATTRIBUTE TO THE MOCK SCRAPE... THE NEXT TWO YEARS I COULDN'T TELL IF THEY DID ANY GOOD.

i don't put alot of stock in attractants, i do believe though that if you have enough land, that a sizable food plot( 5-25 acres)can be a much better draw than a corn feeder. some deer prefer corn, but at our ranch at least, in the early season, from spring thru fall, the deer will hit an oat patch 3:1 vs. a corn feeder. late december/early january though, i would run at least two feed lines by truck thru out the property a day using corn.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I have put feed blocks out before and never seen a deer touch one of them. I have tried this on 3 leases now and I have given up on them.

I now mix roasted soy with my corn just to give the deer a new smell and something different to eat.
