From what I read it seems like a scent you burn while in the stand. Am I close or way off. Where do you get Thermacell from?
Thanks,

from what I have seen hogs can't smell it and they have the best sense of smell of all the critters. Quote:

I have one and love it. I use it all the time- fishing, teal hunting, deer hunting, turkey hunting and often when we are enjoying an outdoor meal. I've had deer come in and stand directly under my bow stand and it didn't seem to bother them in the least. I also read on another site that you could get the gas refills in the cosmetic section of Wal-Mart. Apparently it is the same as one that goes in a curling iron and they are supposed to be much cheaper.

Someone please fill me in; what is this product called "Thermacell". I take it that it repels skeeters, but how does it work? Is it a chemical vaporizer? If so, what chemical is used?

I have seen no ill effects from any scent that it might give off. I have used one since they hit the market years ago. I am a bow hunter so scent control is a high prioity.

I bought one today at Wally World. We are going to try them out tonight, at the drive in movies. We are sitting in the back of my truck, and this should be a good test. Last year we were eatin' up. I will give a report soon.
