i say find someone that will let you shot one & decide from there. i am just too comfortable with a bolt action and sold mine. they do offer a shorter overall length though. i also was not fond of the trigger. other than that, they are nice. were you wanting it so you can change out barrels?

I had one didn't like it. Maybe if I had spent the $$$ to work the action I would have..in any case I sold it and went back to using a bolt action

I love mine. just got it last year, and it's all I've carried so far. Noticeably shorter rifle. And I don't mind the single shot feature. A little practice and it's not much slower than a bolt gun in most situations. Well, maybe when slaughtering pigs.
They are a bit different, so I'd recommend exactly what everyone else has....Try shooting someone elses' Encore. And there's always improvements that can be made to just about every aspect of the Encore platform. I had the smith do a trigger job on mine before it ever arrived at my FFL's, and it's as sweet a trigger as any of my bolt rifles. As you probably already know, caliber choices are numerous, and endless when you start looking at custom built barrels.
