Heading out to the lease this weekend and was wondering if the rut active was picking up? Opening weekend saw a few small bucks trailing doe's but the bigger bucks did not pay any attention.

Its getting close, last weekend I shot an older 10 pt with my bow that was still hangnig with 2 other older bucks. Heard them sparing a little bit in the woods before they came in. I would say the rut should be in full swing the weekend of the 20th - Thanksgiving weekend. heading down tomorow morning as well, curious what this next front bring. Where in concho are you fellas hunting?

I just got in from NE corner of Menard County and have only seen 3 mature bucks the rest young bucks and 2 of them were vey interested in the doe after the corn was gone with a little chasing.I think they are on the verge of going wide open on the rut, just need a little cool front or some rain.Looks like the acorns are gone and they are hungry.

Hello all:
We hunt the section at 4503/4508. I was curious how the weekend turned out for buck_hunter and what you noticed with regard to rut?

I'll be there for 9 days starting Fri. Should be full swing with this moon, just wish it was going to be a little colder. I'll give updates through the week.

1st update is it's hot & windy. Bucks are chasing hard & heavy. I should be in stand right now, but it's to darn hot. Looking foward to cold front later this week. Did get some nice video of some real pretty 8's chasing does around yesterday eve.

Bucks were chasing Friday morning hot and heavy as it was pretty cool. The warmer it got the less they chased. I expect them to be full on throughout the week.

4 days down & bucks are still chasing. Moon phase is getting better & front on the way, it's about to get real good. Still a few yearlings hanging around mom, but most have been cut loose. Big boys should be roaming the country lookin for the right doe. Different bucks are stopping by all the time, just waiting on the right one. Was very active this eve.
