Debating on going out this weekend and wanted to see what the report was in regards to the rut. Prepre-rut or pre-rut or rut? Thanks...

Last weekend there was nothing going on so I don't plan on it this weekend either. I'll still be out there though

We just got back. Only chase I saw was a spike on a yearling doe. I thought it was a rabbit at first it was so small. Could have been brother/sister I guess but they came running by my buddy about 500 yards away. I had some bucks feeding at the feeder with no intent to chase anything. Had a big ghost show up for a second to peek at the feeder and so no action so left unfortunately. Saw another nice one cruise in the brush looking around so they are starting. Some guys rattled a few in.

Last night a guy killed a nice 8 about 10 yards from where I was setup in my pop-up. He was just hunting on the ground next to a tree. Who needs a stand when the weather nice??

Though I haven't hunted down there yet this year, the guys I hunt with in Bosque are reporting some real minor pre-rut activity. I've hunted down there for about 15 years and the rut has almost always been within a few days of Thanksgiving.

That said, the rut came pretty early at my place in Wise County this year and appears that it could already be coming to an end. Might be early in Bosque this year as well.
