So a buddy and I went and hunted an area we did very well at last year, and found out the lack of rain has congregated hunters and affected their decision making as well. I never once experienced the barnyness last year in this spot and there were way more birds. Lets see...we had numerous boats coming in at LST, couple groups set up 120 yards away, airboats just randomly driving around from 7 to 830, people camping on the bank with their turquoise tent, 2 trucks(one which was stuck)bbq grill, and of course a decoy spread 15 yards down. Lets just say from LST to 9:00 there was some form of retardedness going on around us..

Anyways 1 lost gwt managed to give us our only shot of the day. Pretty shatty...but entertaining watching the a$$ clowns at the circus.

Wow sounds like an experience. I would have not made 9 I would have left when someone set up at 120. I've been known to pepper and leave. Yes quackstaack 120 yards is too close. Anything closer than 300 is prone to get chewed.

okay. but when hunting public, im excited as hell when noone sets up under 100yds! when you can hear em whispering, now thats a little too close...

Yeah 120 is way too close. Would you want someone pointing a shotgun at you 120 yrds away?...with who knows.. maybe a full choke and 3 1/2s'?....And yeah we gave it a valiant effort just hoping some of the yahoos would pack up, which we thought did, only to be dissapointed by an airboat killing the engine after roaring around for 15 min..flushing ducks???? I guess??

Just need a hard steady rain for a few days.

We need some rain out here too to keep all the morons inside! You can't launch a boat OR get within a mile of the water when its muddy where we hunt unless you got a hell of a 4wd.

I saw a group come in at 830 today, set up 150 yards from us, i think they were confused what a boat blind is for. They were 30 yards from any shoreline, stuck out like a sore )))).. It actually helped us on two flights though.. It was not the craziest thing ive seen, but it made for a good laugh

And this is why I no longer hunt public land. Had hunted public before but had two trips to Lavon last year where I actually feared for my safety because some people have no respect for others and are plain ignorant. I will stick to private land from now on with no stupid people and more birds.
