Yes um what's y'all opinion on hunting when it's windy I heard that the deer would b bedded down on days like today
If your dog is barking at the back door and your wife is yelling at the front door, who do you let in first? The dog of course. He'll shut up once you let him in.

That's what i have found here in East Texas,There is to much movement,And they can't tell if something is slipping up on them,BUT,The wind will ususally lay just before dark. And that's a good time to be in the stand
Hunt with your kid's,And you wont be hunting your kid's

I've never had any luck when it's really windy. I've seen and killed deer in heat, cold, rain, snow, etc., but high wind kills my luck every time.

I killed my 13 point this year when I thought my stand was going to blow over, I usually never go when its real windy but this year I have and it has paid off. I have went on some of the windiest days this year and I see deer everytime and I hunt an open field as well.

I believe it has a lot to do with hunting pressure. But in general I dont hunt in winds over 10mph.

Where I hunt, your lucky if the wind is blowing under 15 mph. I hunt reguardless of the wind. If it is always windy where your at, the deer are used to it.

So the term would be "abnormal wind". I've seen them get spooky and not come in as well on windy days. You may still see some moving, depending on where you are, but they're much more skittish.
Mikeydon is right, though. The wind will usually lay down about 30 minutes before dark and the deer will move like crazy. I saw that again on Thursday. Love it.

I dont buy the "dont hunt when it's windy" idea. I have killed deer in pouring down rain, sleet, snow, one of the best bucks I have ever shot I took when my stand was rocking in the wind. it was so windy my hunting partner about 500 yards away never heard my shot and I was shooting a .270. he thought I was kidding him til I shone my light on the buck I had hanging.

I have always heard 'if it is windy, don't bother going out', but my own observations run contrary to that.

I have always seen deer if it is windy or calm. It's just that the deer are very skittish in the open when it is windy. I saw 6 deer Friday night in the high winds but they were very skittish and not one fed. Sat morn it was calm and the deer, except the does, were quite calm. Two bucks from the day before went to the feeder, looked around for about 5 minutes and then ate for about 30. Muey grande stayed about 200 yard away to check for does but wouldn't come in.
