A buck made a rub along a trail I just started hunting. So as I was doing some trimming to see further down the trail to the south, I went ahead and cut the tree in half, just above the rub and left the rest standing so I could see to shoot past it. (rub was about the size of my wrist). Needless to say, it took him a day to come back through and realize what had happened to his tree. This bad boy tore the rest of that tree to pieces. I'm guessing he thought another buck had did it and was making a point. Funny how non-traditional things will cause a buck to do things unexpected. After I cut it, I actually felt I had made a terrible mistake and was going to scare him off, but just the opposite happened!

I built my kids a soccer/ football goal out of pvc and the bucks have torn it up! not sure why but, each day it would be messed up a little bit more.

Indeed ... I actually shot a deer once cutting a tree down to make a ground blind. Had a little bow saw and was trying to do the work quietly; all I can figure is that the deer thought I was another buck making a rub ...
He came plowing out of the brush with his ears laid back. Thumped him at 60 yards ...
