I had a scary moment Sunday around noon. After the morning hunt was over all my hunting buddies left for home and I decided to go and do a little scouting. I had saw a big buck right after day break down near our fence line. I went down and put up a lean to stand. I climbed up 15' and sit down to trim some small limbs with an axe.I didn't know that Honey Bee's had a hive in a hole of the tree. They attacked me . I'm 68 yrs old and a little over weight, but I got down that ladder pretty fast. They chase me about 100 yards. I was lucky that they only stung me about 6 or 7 times. Three times in the face and 3 or 4 on my right hand. I'm okay but that could have been a lot worse.

Glad you got down that ladder safely and got away for the most part unscathed. I bet that was scary when they started coming out of the tree.

Yes the carbon in your breath is what they can target in on.

Holding your breath reduces the chances of getting stung the first time. Once stung, the stinger releases a phermone that tells the other bees/wasps where to attack. I've had a guy run past me, with bees hot on his trail. They were after him, but they never bothered me.
coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

One you're stung the first time look out cuz here they all come.

I would have messed my pants and fallen off the ladder. How do they react to methane gas?

By the way I went to town and came back with the Wasp spray. It did not work at all on the Honey bee's. I just moved the lean to.

Thankfully you made it out with only a few stings.
I have to say, I've noticed far more bee & wasp activity this year than I have in the past. I evicted a hive of honey bees from the underside of my box blind at the end of September and now the red wasps are taking up residence. I've tried everything I could think of, even those No-Pest Strips and nothing seems to work.
