How many of you guys hunt in the rain? We hunted in the rain during teal season but didn't do good. How does it affect the birds? It is suppose to rain Thursday and Friday and we are going hunting.

My personal philosophy is that there's a reason they call rainy days "duck weather." Also, if that rain is part of a cold front moving in from the north, it's a pretty good bet it will be bringing ducks down with it. I think during and right after the arrival of a wet, blue norther, there should be ducks.

Rain is good... but you gotta clean and oil the gun after. The duck hunting is awesome if you get a rainy, windy day. They seem to want to land just about anywhere there are decoys in my experience
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

They seem to want to land just about anywhere there are decoys in my experience Last year's teal opener we had rain, and teal. We had our limit of teal in 30 minutes, were standing up and still had birds trying to land in the deeks.

We were out in the thick of it last Wedsneday. Soaked to the bone, but managed to scratch out some ducks and my first Speck..
the thing about baiting is, even a rookie hunter could have a 170 bird season if they bait holes

If it don't affect the birds, it don't affect me.
The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. Genesis 9:2

........it does affect birds. They don't like to fly in it no more than you like to be out in it. Sure you can kill a few rings and a couple sawbills on a rainy day, but a mallard will hole up with his head under his wing and wait for sunshine. Duck weather is not nasty rainy days......it is clear blue and sunshine.
