I'm looking for a pro shop within a reasonable drive from Murphy, TX. I bought a new Drenalin a couple of months ago at a Pro Shop in Garland. To be honest, I was less than impressed the way they set the bow up and how they let the bow go out the door. I had worked with a guy (Scott - I think) there in the past who was awesome. He could just about eyeball a bow on the press and it would be dialed in. Apparently he isn't there anymore or at least hasn't been there the few times I've gone back.
The "new crew" didn't offer any help when I bought the bow. In fact, they had another customer help me instead. I got a half assed paper tuned bow, the sight mount needs to be moved, the peep site is at the wrong height and is twisted, no help with new arrows, etc.. I couldn't get any help prior to leaving. On top of that, I think the bow is a little long for me. I can't hit squat with it. I shoot a Fred Bear Instinct circles around the Mathews. Of course, I had already paid for the bow and they wouldn't offer a refund either.
I'm fairly new to archery and want to be taught "the right way"....I also expect that when I buy I new bow w/acc that I should get help getting it dialed in BEFORE I leave the shop. Maybe I'm asking for too much?
Any help/suggestions on a credible pro shop? I'm pretty much done with the Garland shop.
Thanks!

I have always used Arlington Bowhunting World. The guy that runs it is named Ken. He can be.....well a little straight forward at time, but I doubt there is anyone else on the planet that knows more about bows then him.

I use Ken as well, I've never had a problem with him. He knows his stuff and he's got some stories.
He's on both B&C's and P&Y's panel I don't think anyone else has ever been on both.

I don't consider him a jackass I consider him a friend.....I just try to give people a little warning so that don't get the wrong impression....LOL.
And yes he is the only one on both boards.
Great guy if you want it done right.

I couldn't agree MORE you guys say hes a jackass.I live just a short distance from him and would rather drive 30 min to any other place than Bowhunting world. He chased me and 3 of my friends out of there with his BS.What an attitude! The guy thinks he is gods gift to bow hunting.Doesn't matter what groups he is part of to me.Just help and sell me stuff. I feel better!

I go to the Pro Shop in garland and have had great success with them. At first, the guy didn't know I was a newbie so he wasn't explaining anything to me..As soon as I let him know I was new, he was very polite with me and very helpful..I have used Chuck everyime I go there..He set my pearson up and I have been very pleased with it..
Thanks
Cody

I'll 2nd the vote for North Texas Archery in Farmersville. Fay used to run outdoor pro shops in Garland.. Then when Kenneth Tallent opened NTA, Fay went to work for him. Those guys are very high on customer satisfaction.. And if you don't know it, They also own Circle T Bowhunting Ranch in Wolfe City.. Awesome place to boot.. I don't get anything for free from them.. Just good folks, and a great place to hunt. The shop in Farmersville is awesome.. Nice people, lots of expertise, cool range, great location (if you live in the sticks like me), and good prices to boot.. Fay is a different kind of character, but he is a nice guy who will do anything to help out a fellow hunter.. He loves kids too..

I knew Ken when he was at Trophy and he has not mellowed with age, but he knows his stuff and won't screw you. Personally, I use David's Outdoors in Weatherford. Never had a guy take some much time to let me try, no, insist on me trying several different bows so I got the right one. There was a lot of time spent on adjusting draw lengths and what not to test each one. (4) When I got my new LX, he got me set up, squared away and ready to hunt. I will drive 38 miles to do buisness with him before I drive 8 miles to a shop in Haltom City. 817-594-0821.

If you are ever in the Stephenville area, it is worth you time to stop by Pigeon Road and talk to Allen George. He is a guy that has won almost every shooting and archery award there is. I have been doing business with them for fifteen year and they have always treated me right. He is not arrogant and he knows his guns and bows. I bought a new Browning 270 WSM in Dec. with a Zeiss scope and Allan did all the work and sighted it in 2 inches high at 100 yards in 3 shots. Great people all the way around.
