Hunted last night and only had one fork horn come by. Heard a massive buck fight about 150 yds south where my buddy has another stand. Headed there this morning to see if they travel through the area again. Will advise as it progresses.

Where in Kansas? I just moved back to the DFW area about 4 years ago from DeSoto KS. I have a lifetime license and itching to go back. Had a little boy a year ago and my priorities have changed a little. Maybe next year.

Topeka area, back on stand close to where I heard the big buck fight two nights ago. I put out some tinks 69, may be a little early for that. We will see, several big bucks taken this week by locals. Feel good about this evening other than the wind. Took the morning off to bait up stands for my hunters coming inThursday. Will post at end of hunt, hopefully with a pic.

Fun hunt but no shooters, rattled in two bucks a 5pt and an 8pt. Watched them spar and make scrapes. They hung out for about 15 minutes, one doe after that. Had a shooter buck cross the road in front of me 1/4 mile from the property I was hunting, nose to the ground not worried about the truck at all. He walked out 20' from a house. Very rutty. Will try again in the am.

Thanks guys I will be out in the morning trying to close the deal. These bucks are traveling a lot at night so you never know what the morning will bring. I want to get one before it gets too cold. I am a wuss when it comes to cold weather. It all looks good for the next 10 days. Good luck to all of you in Texas, season opener for rifle for most of you.

Good Luck JC. I have a meeting this morning, then I am heading to Kansas. Can't wait!!! Think I am going to take all the chairs out of the meeting room and make everyone stand...makes the meeting go faster.
My Dad is up there and a guy just south of Emporia killed a monster non-typical. He still has the old phone so no pictures but he said it was huge.

Had a spike in early, came to my 69 drag. Had him as close as 6yds. Rattled in a 2 1/2 year old 8. Had him at 8 yds. They both liked the 69. Next buck could be the one, hunting until 10, I have hunters coming in at noon to 1pm.

My hunters Jay and his dad Larry made it in this afternoon and we got them on stand before 4pm. Larry had does, turkeys and bucks chasing does. Jay saw a coyote. The rut is coming in on schedule and I think we will see several nice bucks harvested by Sunday. It's on like Donkey Kong. If you pick a stand with a hot doe traveling through you will see lots of bucks. Will keep you guys posted.

Thursday night 7 hunters in the woods all but 2 were seeing deer. 2 properties had a hot doe leading the chase. Both hot does had shooters in tow but none were in range or still enough for a shot. One hunter missed a doe when his arrow deflected off the brush. This am I had one hot doe leading a pack of 3 young bucks, biggest maybe a 120 10pt. Larry and Jay had does, turkey and yotes. Jay put one of the yotes down for a dirt nap. This afternoon Larry had some doe and the rest of us were just seeing turkey. Saturday looks to be a good day for some hard hunting and closing the deal. We are coming into the dark of the moon, I expect we will see some good deer tomorrow.

Deer moved good 8 to 9:30. Been slow since. Should pick back up soon. My bud Steve is blood trailing an 8, he was pushing him so he is taking a nap till 11. Rattled in 3 buck, no shooters on 2 but one hung up in the brush and could not tell. Doe and fawn at 8 yds. More to come.
