As a general rule of thumb when shooting out of an elevated stand should you aim a little low? Im sure im not the first to ask this... Also do most of yall aim a little low to compensate for ducking the string? Ive had two deer this year I would have drilled had I aimed a little low because both of them ducked the string. Thanks abunch

If I am over 10 feet I usuaully lower the shot 2 inches. If I forget, it hasn't been a huge problem

I never have aimed any lower than normal when I'm elevated. I do always tend to aim low whether elevated or not though. Aim for the heart and if they duck a little you get some lung.

I agree w/ bowslayer, also, if the deer is on high alert when you are about to release I aim almost at the bottom line of the deer, especially when hunting from a ground blind (pop up). Best just to try to keep your shots under 20yds and you significantly lower the reaction time of a deer to "jump the string"

I shot at a spike last sunday that had no idea I was there , and had his head down eating when I released and he ducked down just enough for it to clear his back then he started eating again. Needless to say I thought it was pretty rude of him to do that.. lol he was at 23 yards

I had a doe duck me 2 weeks ago at 25yrds. I was aiming at the center and shaved her back. Couldn't belive it. When I'm at home the bow sounds quit but in the woods where everything is super quit, my bow may not be that quit.

Thanks, Jigfish

I normally aim at the bottom half of the lungs, therefore hoping to allow for the drop. I believe that it depends on the deer's state of mind whether or not he/she is relaxed or on alert.
