Has anyone seen any signs? Will be going to scout next week on Wednesday or Thursday. Then going to hunt on Nov 17 or 18.

I don't want to take anyone's spot. Just wondering if anybody has seen anything. I will be picking my own spot next week, then going out the day before I hunt as well.

How's Going fellas? I am new to the board but wanted to let you all know that I will be hunting that area as well on the 901N unit. I will be out on opening weekend through that tues. I went scouting in this area back in late Oct and had no other visitors at all. I saw quite a few signs of deer and plenty of hog wallows deep in the forest. I will be hiking about a mile and a half in to hunt from the north campsite. Who else is hunting this area so that I do not disturb your areas. Good luck to all of you this season.

The only .380 they make is 90 grain as far as I know.
Since it is shotgun or muzzleloader only out there, I was trying to see what was used more with the best results. Smooth bore and buckshot or rifled slugs or rifled barrels and sabots

I will be using rifled slugs. May take two guns, 12 gauge and a .410. Not sure why, but still thinking about 12 gauge only.

lbjgrasslands FULLY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS ARE PROHIBITED. Hunting is limited to shotguns, muzzleloaders and archery. Unit 3 is open to target shooting with shotguns; and hunting and camping are permitted.

Hey Guys, Good luck on LBJ. I expect you will have company unless you can hunt during the week. It is Shotgun, muzzleloader or Bow only. No Rifles. I would recommend having at least 3 or 4 areas scouted. Most people fine they do ok in areas close to private property food sources. I also would recommend scouting some of the outlaying areas or LBJ. The Central areas around Black Creek lake are going to have alot of people. I hunted fall Turkey last year the day after Thanksgiving and it was packed because that was the 4 day Antlerless season. So be very careful and have several places scouted.

Its been pretty crowed the past few weeks. I saw a guy who had a bucket of pears and a half bag of corn in the back of his truck. I thought hunting overbait was not allowed in the LBJ Grasslands?

Are you talking about the Grasslands near Decatur or the one near Paris/Honey Grove? If Decatur,no centerfire rifles, including .308 are allowed. As far as I know they are still allowed at the one near Honey Grove.

Baiting is not allowed as far as I know with LBJ you have to check with the office since it is not in your Public Hunting Guide. The majority of USFS lands do not allow baiting for deer.

No it is NOT allowed. That is one thing the office pointed out when I picked up my map last year. The only thing you can use is the cans of spray.

I wonder if they are finding enough food with acorns etc that they just do not feel the need to come to feeders. I know where I live there has been a good crop of acorns this year.
