Had a doe walk out about 30 yrds. I picked my spot and shot. It was probably the best shot I took this year as far as taking my time. I released and the arrow was going right at her lungs and a blink of the eye she ducked and my arrow must have shaved her back. I could believe it. But that said, I know I didn't harm her. So, I've bowhunted 10yrs and this is my 1st year for serious bowhunting. I shot one doe and looked for 3hrs and could not find it then the 90degree heat came. Misjudges the distance on a spike. Stuck a hog, yea me and missed this one. But I do learn from each shot to make me better for the next.

Thanks, Jigfish

Happens. They say the most likely range to jump string is 18 to 32 yards.

I had a spike do that to me this past sunday, Broadside at 23 yards released the arrow looked perfect then he hit the dirt and it went over his back! Then he trotted about 20 yards and started eating again! I thought it was pretty rude on his part myself!

HAPPENED TO ME LAST NIGHT. First time ever. She was at 22 yrd, broadside, and i let it fly. Suddenly she went ninja, jumped, and jogged off with her middle finger up.

O.K. I'll finally ask the question that's been looming around in my empty skull since I posted my "first bow kill" pics a couple weeks ago showing a lethal but less-than-ideal hit.

Do you intentionally shoot low at deer farther than 10-15 yds.?

I have shot 10 deer with my bow and all but 1 have been 18+ yards and never had one "jump" my shot. Last night was the first time. But i think last night had to do with how nervous she was. She looked at me about 10 times before she finally came to water, so she KNEW someting wasn't right. I think if the deer is clueless of your presence, you don't have to worry much. I never aim to anticipate the "jump". But then again I haven't taken any shots further than 30yrds

That's the kind of stuff that keeps us coming back. The only thing predictable about bow hunting is that it is unpredictable!

Hang in there, you'll score!

Had one do that to a buddy while we were trying to film the hunt. Bowtech 82nd airborne shot 306fps and the deer was 16 yards. I thought that there was no way that a deer could move that fast and boy was I wrong. It was definately a lung shot and she dropped about 6 inches in a split second. But like Bjankowski said, Thats bowhunting. confused2
