If I am hunting in the afternoon, I ALWAYS take along Blue Star. I would have lost a couple of deer in the past if I had not had that stuff. If you are tracking after dark and lose the trail, all you have to do is spray a mist of Blue Star into the air and it will make microscopic spots of blood glow in the dark. The stuff is amazing! You will never have any anxiety about losing a deer if you take that stuff with you. I have heard of it, but where do u buy this stuff. I have a blood light, but doesn't work to well.

THis is a hard question to get an accurate answer. I have to say I have an average of 50-60 yards with well placed arrows, however have had them travel several hundred yards. The key is to allow plenty of time before you recover.

I don't think I really have an "average" distance that they go. But I sure love it when they go down in sight

I shot my first with my bow on the 8th and had the same worries and still do.. I actually shot her high but it hit under the spine and I guess when it hit my arrow broke and continued going thru her breaking her front leg also.. So she dropped in her tracks but I waited for 30 mins and she was very alive so I had to finish her off.. But it was definitely a wierd ordeal.. It broke her back and leg due to a not so perfect shot...
But anyways just wanted to share that with y'all !!! Just curious why you let her lay there and suffer for 30 minutes before finishing her off? I could see waiting a minute or two but not 30.
