Our shop is looking into getting some beetles and just wanted to hear from some of the other shops if its a good idea or should we keep just boiling skulls?

I have beetles and clean skulls with them. I use is as a second business. I have one taxidermist that I do all his euro's and I just do the rest from word of mouth and a little advertising I do. There is way more into it than just buying bettles and putting skulls in them. It is easier and does get the skulls cleaner than boiling for me. You have to have a lot of beetles to be able to clean skulls very fast and have multiple tanks if you are going to do a lot of skulls. I would recommend going to taxidermy.net and type in dermestid beetles and see all the info you will need.

We have 2 large colonies of beetles and if you have a sensitive nose i wouldn't recommend them. Like Hunter30 said, there is a whole lot more than just putting skulls in the tanks. You have to monitor temperature, humidity keep the tank sealed, and properly dry any heads you put into them. Mites can wipe out your entire colony if you're not careful. Dermestids are fun to watch and worth it if you are able to devote time and attention to them.
