Well, I decided to burn a vacation day at work today...plan was to drive to the lease (2 hours away), hunt all day, and return home late tonight. Left the house at 4:00 a.m., and got to the lease at 6:15. Began to quietly unload my gear . . . jacket, arm guard, range finder, scent killer spray, bow, .... oh no . . . I forgot my arrows with broadheads.

Luckily, I have a few arrows with field tips, so I planned on just sitting in the blind in the morning (armed with only a camera) and mid morning I'd run to Academy to pick up some broadheads for the afternoon hunt.

So I walk 1/2 mile or so to my feeder/blind set up. When I get there, my ground blind is nowhere to be found...stolen ($200 hub style blind). I have another feeder/blind set up, so I walk another 1/4 to 1/2 mile to hunt it. By now, the sun is just about to clear the horizon, and I'm so mad that I'm pretty sure steam could be seen coming out of my ears. No arrows, stolen ground blind.

Thankfully, the second ground blind was still in-tack, and I get in and sit down. I'm not there 10 minutes before my cell phone starts vibrating. My wife is sending me text messages saying her car has broken down (back home 2 hrs away).

I load up my crap and get back on the highway. Drove a round-trip total of 4+ hours and was back home by 9:30 a.m. I guess today's hunt was just not destined to happen.

No arrows, stolen ground blind, wife's car breaks down, and a wasted vacation day. Anybody else having a crappy day?

Well, that definitely stinks, but think of it this way... At least you didn't have any car trouble on your ride back to rescue your wife. up See, it could have been worse. whistle grin

It happens.

The way things are today, you're fortunate to have a happy marriage and a job that pays the mortgage. It seems the numbers of those who don't just keeps rising.

Such thoughts hit my mind earlier today when I mailed off the check to Wells Fargo.

Just FYI, my wife's car just needed to be jumped off. Took me more time to dig the jumper cables out of my truck than it did for me to get her car running.

That stinks but could have been worse I suppose. I usually get the page that kiddo is sick but I just instruct on med dosage. lol.

On the jump, I got the call the other day where I had to turn around just to get her out of the garage and then send her to get a new battery. Well I take the car into the dealership today and they said, that battery would have been free here since it was under warranty. Wasted $130 when I thought I was saving money!

Nope. Decided to take a nap and dream about taking a new state record whitetail.

It might be a good idea to create a THF Rescue program. It could have saved your hunt. There are probable twenty people who lived close enough to jump your wifes car off and you could of stayed at the deer lease. I guess the rescue squad would be fairly thin on the weekends but it might save the day during the week.

While frustrating, any day you can still put your feet on the ground, take a deep breath of morning air and watch the sunrise is still a good day.

Carppy day here too.

Ran to the store to get snuff. It's cool out so I turn off the a/c and roll down the window. I hear tic-tic-tic coming from the left front tire. "Hmmm? Must have a rock stuck in the tread. I'll dig it out when I get home"...Nope, not a rock but what's left of a screw driver. Tire is ruined.

Go to Discount to get a new tire but decide to get 4 new ones since these only have about 8,000 miles left on them. $900 later I'm back home and the wife reminded me that we have to pay bills tonight. Not a happy camper here.

So where do you hunt and when do you think your blind was stolen? I hate thieves, and to take a man's deer-blind, that is a lowlife right there.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea

Both of those sound like things that make it a good day for me. Girl number one is " New " so no big emotional attachment. With the ex sounds like you need to invite her and her best friend over to hangout... Just sayin.

Sorry to hear about the bad day bowman. Everything happens for a reason. I guarantee there was a reason yesterday went all hectic on you like that.

Samsam, get you some vanilla extract and put a few drops on the tooth that's bothering you. It will give you some relief while waiting to see the dentist. up
