Maybe i just like to hunt more than other people. I pay for all the feed and all the up keep on blinds and feeders, game cameras all year, and then when it comes time to hunt, they ask me how much money are they going to need for the trip. Then my brother asked if he needs to drive after i take care of everything all year. come on, its a free hunt on my family's ranch to hunt mule deer.I was going with a friend and my brother this Tuesday but i think i would just rather just go by myself. i give up! Too much trouble. Everyone knows that this is an expensive thing to do. Don't ask how much and just be ready!!!!!!

Let him drive or pay for something who cares, if you take him up on it maybe he wont offer next year. If you dont like taking care of all of it then just take care of yours and go it alone!

Been there and I am still doing that. Pay for the feed, buy or build the stands, clean up the camp, fill the feeders, haul off all of the trash, and then get accused of not being able to get along when I mention you others might want to help some. I can identify with you. My brothers are so cheap that they want to pay for the one kernel of corn that the deer is eating at the time they shoot him.

Hey for a MD hunt or any for that matter I'll drive, buy gas, groceries, refreshments, work, not whine, not get lost, not shoot what I am not supposed to, guide, cook, provide as much humor and sarcasm as needed, and certainly appreciate the oppurtunity!!
Some people just don't get it.

West-tex, you and I are is the same boat. but... my brother lives next door. So I have to listen to crap all the time. No help at all, not even a shovel. Forget about the feed, forget about the taxes. I quit messing with the drama years ago, and just did things myself. Did what i had time for, lot less stress.

I don't understand which part you're itchin about... They didn't help you do the work? " " pay for the feed and gas? Both?
Myself I'd just put a price on it... (him)"How much money do I need?" (you) "Oh $580.00 ought to cover it..."

Yep I'd go alone and in the future I'd feed me a couple of secret spots and that's all.

For me, it is better to go by myself than to have to mess with someone that wants any kind of reason not to go or does not want to do their part.

I usually have to go along behind the others on my big lease and fix all of their screw ups. But they mean well.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I don't deer hunt but I would rather someone offer money and me turn them down than to just show up and go. Some people have busy lives and can't afford the time away from home OR the biggest problem I have ran into in the past is I can go about as much as I want because my wife and I don't have kids and a lot of my friends do or the have a wife who doesn't allow them to go as much as myself.
Always better to offer than to not offer and be a free loader...
Good luck and I hope y'all can go have fun and enjoy it!

Help me understand the frustration here, because your brother has offered to put up some money to off set your cost and the work you've done, and asked if you want him to drive, you're frustrated?
Was your brother and friend informed that you needed them for some work days and some money to help with feeders and other items?
Sorry, I went through this crap yesterday with the wife. Got all up set cause, "things were piling up," and I wasn't helping. No one can read minds, so if you don't speak up and say what you want or expect, then don't get your feelings hurt if folks don't figure it out.
You need to be direct with your bro and friend in the future that if they don't help through out the year, don't plan on hunting the stands. You also need to let them know the cost to maintain everything and you expect to have the bill split.
And do you really not want to hunt with them?
Let's be honest, hunting deer is sort of an individual sport. Sharing the camp and memory with them should be more important, unless you flat out like being in camp by yourself.
If you do decide to go without them, then be honest about it. Tell them why you're frustrated and you rather they not come.

Just remember sometimes things happen out of our control. But, you should always try to do you best to do what you say your going to do. A person is only as good as his word.
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

my case is more than likely a culmination of yrs of getting on eachothers "nerves" i guess. but i sure do feel used and abused. i let it happen so i guess i just need to start goin at it alone to spare myself a bad ending to a good friendship.
