Catastrophe avoided (got to brag on this guy- ON TARGET ARCHERY!)
Well, we always tend to dump on poor service, so I wanted to brag on some outstanding service and someone that saved my opening weeks hunt. I was scheduled to hunt Sunday through Wednesday at my lease in Coleman. On Monday evening I had climbed into my double bull for the first time of the season and got set up, I figured that I would draw my bow back to ensure that I was set up properly and had plenty of room. Well, when I came forward from my draw my jacket wasn’t zipped and the end of it was caught in the cam, thus being feed into the cam, while coming forward taking my string and cables off my cams and damaging my serving, peep feel out, etc. So there I sit with my busted bow, figuring that my hunt was over for the week.... period.
I headed into Coleman to ask around about a bow shop and was told about On Target Archery in Bangs (actually it is between Bangs and Santa Anna off 67). It was around 6 PM when I called and I spoke to Jerid Lawrence the owner. He had already left the shop for the day and I went ahead and explained what had happened. He said I can get you back up and hunting, so I said okay what time do you open in the morning, he then said I will head back up to the shop and take care of you tonight, so you can hunt in the morning….(REALLY, I thought). I headed to his shop and he pulled up right behind me. Took me into the shop and looked at my Mathews, said this might take an hour or so and asked do you have time, of course! Well to make a long story longer, he replaced the serving on my cables and string, reset my peep, set my speed knocks and then allowed me to shoot a few times at his target to make sure everything looked good and shot well. It did. When it was time to settle up, I ask him what the damage was and he said not to worry about it, “been there before he said”, just enjoy your morning hunt!!! I gave him what little cash I had, and asked him to take his family out to dinner or something since I had taken him away from them for the night….I was back at my camp cooking dinner by 845. I didn’t end up taking a monster but I did get my final 4 hunts in and only missed 1 due to my mistake. It was a good few days of hunting.
I just wanted to brag on him for his service, his attitude, and the quality of work that he did! He is a great guy and good example for the hunting community. He not only does archery work but he also does taxidermy, some of the best mounts that I have seen. His shop is spotless, he has a great attitude, and his work is top notch. If you need bow service or taxidermy work done, I highly recommend him. Just stop by and visit and you will understand my email better and view his work.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I know I am long winded, but I wanted to recognize him for what he did. I hope that this help someone else or bring some future business to his shop, he is a class act.

I to have had some experience with them out there. They checked by bow for me and helped my brother in law with a mount. They are great guys. I would recommend them to anyone.

Good to read something like that. With all the doom-and-gloom news in the world these days thats is a real refreshing change of pace. If I lived anywhere near that guy'd I'd be happy to patronize his shop.

Thank God for good-hearted people like Jerid. That is a story I wish we could read more of. Like another post said, if your not in that stores family, you basically a nobody.
