I have been getting a lot of pictures of Turkey on my game camera, so I decided to go turkey hunting. I don't have a bow blind set up where the turkey have been showing up so I picked a spot on the ground about eighteen yards from where they have been coming out. The turkey came out and walked within eight yards of me and I could not draw on them. They spotted me and walked off behind a shrub bush. I did a chirp call and they turned around and headed my direction. I drew early so I could get a shot. I held my draw for what felt like forever, my arms started burning I held my draw for so long. The biggest tom in the group stepped out and I let my arrow fly. A perfect shot! It sounded like I hit it with a baseball bat. The turkey fell over, then gets up and runs off. It was a pass through found the arrow covered in blood. I found good blood. Followed the blood until it ran out, but there was no turkey. I looked for three hours fighting spiders crawling under stuff hoping to find him, but never did. I am so frustrated, I want to beat my head against the wall. If recovered this would have been my first Turkey ever. First Turkey with a bow, from the ground with no blind. I am pi$$ed!!!! bang
I will be looking again tomorrow, just to try and learn from my mistake and try to find it.

I feel your pain, i have lost a couple of them that i thought were hit good. Good blood on arrow and they just take off.

The best advice i can give is to head shoot. I shoot a much slower bow with broad heads designed to shoot in the head or neck area. You either miss or dead bird.
