I have no desire to hunt with a rifle anymore. I will take my boys and let them shoot a couple deer with their rifles but I hang on pretty tight to the Bow. I get a great feeling when a deer is 10-20 yards away from me and I have to try and get a good shot off than seeing one 300-400 yds out and dropping him witht the rifle.

I had a doe this morning at no more than 4 yards and I felt like a little kid again out in the woods, I was breathing like I was fixing to shoot a record buck and I wasn't even going to draw on her.

I like to do both, but shooting a deer with a rifle coming to a feeder is just way too darn easy, and I get little satisfaction doing it. I've killed alot of deer though so I guess maybe that's the natural maturation of a hunter. I can see why some hunters go back to the basics - recurve, instinctive shooting - to make it challenging and thrilling again. I'm with ffread, you can't beat close quarters hunting.

Thank you dear Lord for equipping me with incisors.

I'll probably do both!!! I get back from offshore on Nov 4th so I only have 1 day of bow season in Texas, but I go to New York on the 8th for 10 days of their bow season!!!

I haven't shot a deer with a gun in about 4 years. Nothing wrong with it, and if I am having a bad season I might break it back out. But I enjoy being in the woods with a bow, waiting on everything to pan out just right to make that draw. Got a recurve earlier this year and have been practicing all year. Can't wait until next weekend (15th) to get to the ranch.

I bow hunt during archery season to get the deer I want before the pressure starts making the deer really nervous. Once rifle season starts, I'll admit, I'll use my rifle. During late season, I sometimes enjoy pulling out my muzzle loader to have a good time.

Heck, if the state allowed me to throw a javelin, I'd probably give that a shot too.

I am relatively new to bow hunting thus not incredibly good at it yet. I hunted all last year and never had a chance to take a shot with the bow. It will get to a point in the season where I have to bring out the rifle just to fill the freezer. If I can get a deer for the freezer with the bow then I will stick with the bow all through. No one else that I hunt with uses one so they don't understand when I head out to the stand an hour before sunrise.

I will be picking up the rifle as soon as I get back in the state in Nov. I have a buck that needs to get shot before he dies of old age and the chances of me seeing him, let alone getting him in bow range, will be iffy.

Bow all the way. Gun hunting is not challenging enough. If u can see it u can shoot it or at it anyway.

It's going to depend on how cold it gets...

I love my bow, and plan to hunt with it year round, but if it's that darned cold, I'm sitting in the fancy blind with a heater and my rifle!

Strictly bow hunting! I get no where the same excitement when hunting with a rifle, it's a much greater experience when te deer is 20 yards and you have to out smart his sences, than when he's 400 yards.
