A buddy's buck from yesterday am.

Nice buck, how come your buddy is not on here? He's just not an internet kinda fella. Works for a maintenance company on oilfield equipment and pretty much sleeps any time he has off, except when I drag him out to hunt and fish. More on the buck; I have been watching this buck since he was a year old. Notice the swollen right front leg, definite identifier. He was a spike his first year, and wide(ish) 6 point his second, a decent 8 last yer but needed another year to grow, then he turned into a nice 8 this year. Yeah, he would have been a monster next year, but this is that fella's first 8 point, and he got him with a bow even. Here's a pic of him last year. Just goes to show, not all spikes should be kilt on site. They will grow with some management and decent genes. Most will anyway. My weekend wasn't so good. Good, just not as good. I passed on a shooter 10. The only shot I had was about 45yds, and he really needs another year to grow anyway. So I let him walk. Didn't even get to draw on a pig this weekend, but there's plenty more weekends to come. I'm just stoked for my bud, and that he got the deer on our place. He'll always remember that hunt, and that makes the weekend a great one.
