In my opinion, do not pass up a buck on the first day of the season that you would be willing to shoot on the last day of the season.
Never Approach a Bull from the Front, a Horse From Behind, or a Fool From Any Direction.

"do not pass up a buck on the first day of the season that you would be willing to shoot on the last day of the season." This is what I say to myself every year and then I hold out. This philosophy has caused me many a heartache. NOT THIS YEAR! He comes out and is a good 'un he is going down. Got to break in the new OMEN It's tired of foam.

Another drawback to AR counties. You could always shoot a respectable buck and then hold out for that true trophy. Not anymore in my county. Yep, same in my county. Only one buck over 13 inches. The other buck has to be a spike.

I have let some very nice deer go in the past thinking that I will get another shot and every year I tell myself that I am going to change it this year. Maybe this is the year....

The season NEVER ends IMO... If I shoot a good buck opening morning I still go out and hunt hogs or take pictures or take one of the kids out. Even if I don't go hunt I hang out at camp and cook. Huntin is more than just killin for me.

I kill early, I don't have near the excuses to make the drive from SA to East Tx. Here's a question.....if you live in SA.....why on earth are you hunting in East Texas?? lol

fair question.... b/c not all places in East Tx are overhunted and pressured and its smart to hunt on places that are already paid for vs $3000-5000 to get on a decent lease south of here.
