call me crazy but i have been hunting on the same peace of property for about 4 years now and have been feeding for about 3 years through the season... the first year i started feeding i had tons of pictures of deer on the cameras... the past 2 years nothing has been hitting the feeders. in fact i dont even remember having a picture of a deer. i have had better results throwing out corn by hand than a feeder. anyone else not having deer come to the feeder?

We have seen our deer activity decrease at the feeders too. We attribute it to all the acorns falling. We have got a lot of trees dropping on our property right now. Wait until it gets colder and all the acorn are gone, then you should have more activity at your feeder. I think the reason spreading corn on the ground works better is because the deer stumble upon it, they're not actually out looking for the corn you spread.

Our feeders this past decade threw the same amounts of corn, we had tons of turkey and deer, we had the same wheat fields each year.
Last two years, the hogs have moved in and we don't see hardly any deer or turkey.
For years the same amount of feed was available for the numbers of deer and turkey that lived or resided in that 1/2 mile region.
Now they compete for the same amounts of food, except those wheat fields get rooted and tore up as well.
Rarely can you see a deer track over all the hog tracks.
I'm erradicating some hogs starting in Oct, living down there for 3 months straight, going hog wild.

Things are really green right now also from all the rain. Horns are great but it will be tough hunting for a while. IMO.

its funny. we have been hunting the same 230 acre place in the hill country for 6 or 7 years.
the first 2 years there were only two feeders on the place and we would see 10 - 15 deer (or more) each sit. 2X10 = 15 2X15 = 30
over the years we have added 2 feeders to the mix and now the guys are starting to complain that we have fewer deer then we use to and that i should probably not shoot so many does.
Now we see 4 - 10 deer per sit. 4X4 = 16 4X10 = 40
I know math is not a requirement to hunt, but still.
I'm thankful for the things i have and all the things i don't
