Just wandering how many seconds that everyone sets there feeder times to throw corn & feeder motor RPM setting that your using.

Mine is a Remington 6Volt timer set to throw 7 seconds on medium RPM 2 times per day & for the most part all of the corn is gone daily. The deer could be getting a little help from the pigs, coons, & cows though. Just do not know if i am throwing to much or to little corn at this point. The other feeders on the lease are only throwing 3 to 5 seconds twice a day.

Thanks in advance.
Chad

I set mine up on labor day weekend to throw 1 second in the morning and 1 second in the evening since it was so hot. 3 weeks before opening weekend I will bump that up to 3 seconds twice a day, the colder it gets and there are no more acorns and such for them to eat on I will increase the throw time throughout the remainder of the year. My .02 cents

Field camera is worth the cost if you are throwing a lot. See where all your corn is going. I throw for a second a day during the off season (one time a day during summer, twice a day during spring) and 3 seconds twice a day during season.

Mine are 2 sec in the off season and 3-4 during the season. However iv been thinking about cutting mine back ever since I hunted another guys stand on our lease. He sets his feeders for 1 sec twice a day year round. We used to just give him a hard time about being tight with his corn but when I sat in his stand I saw tons of deer. Even better is that the deer were at the feeder waiting on it to go off. When they were out of corn the left. This makes the deer feed during the day if they wana get corn.

Just a thought. What do you guys thing about this idea?

It all depends on the population density in your area. I wouldnt want to throw too little corn and not have as many deer as I could if I were throwing more. It would probably work fine in an area with low population density.

Jaymz, I agree with your statment about the game camera. I have one up on this feeder and i have 5 to 6 doe with fawns there waiting for the dang thing to go off. With this being said the majority of my pictures are around am & pm feeding times with NO mid day activity.

12-15 seconds a day during season, plus protein and corn mix in protein feeder.

2 seconds in the off season and then at the end of August I bump it up to 6 seconds. During the season I always pour out at least 50 pounds on the ground every time I hunt so they will not run out. The feeder is just the dinner bell but once they arrive it's an all you can eat buffet during season.

There just isn't a hard and fast rule. If it's a lease and you aren't out a lot, it's going to be hard to tell what you should be doing without a camera of some sort. Every spot in Texas is going to be a bit different. The place I go in Erath county has been throwing one second a day for the past 5 months, deer are abound but still corn on the ground. They are eating flora and what not (plus we seem to be short of raccoons for some odd reason...)

It's worth throwing for a short time (such as a sec twice a day or something) and checking it over a 3 day period if possible. You'll know what to do.

It also depends how far the spinner is from the funnel. I have two wildgame inovation units where you can adjust the height of the entire box. If the spinner is real close to the funnel it can throw for 15 secs and very little corn come out but drop it down a bit an 5 secs will cover the ground.

6 secounds twice a day. I use about 300lbs per 2 1/2 months and im happy to pay for the corn. Id much rather there be too much corn than to little.

Have three feeder pens and all feeders set to throw for three seconds once in the morning and once in the evening. Do not change times during the season - have wireless remote at all three stands. Routinely lure deer back to feeder with remote after they scarf up the corn and start walking off. As soon as they hear feeder go off again they turn around and go back to feed. Have kept deer around for over three hours doing this. Neat way to keep hot does around during the rut.

I've been feeding all year and I've got mine set for about 3 to 4 seconds and they have been using about 80lbs or less in month. I put up a new feeder a month ago and I've got it set for 3 seconds. Cameras on all 3 of the feeders also.

Rangerman- I never have thought about the remote on the feeder idea, but that Sir is a dandy one. Thanks!

2 seconds in the off season in the am. 10 seconds in the am and 2 seconds in the afternoon during season. Both are low settings on the spinner speed. Bear in mind that the seconds ran have a direct effect to how far the spinner plate is from the funnel. father distance = more corn thrown, close distance = less corn thrown.

2 seconds 2 times a day in the off season. Then during the season I will bump it up to 10 to 15 seconds 2 times a day depending on what they are eating.

I see most of you said twice a day morning and evening, how many of you use a photocell timer? I went to all photocell timers cause I never feed mid day and they are cheaper.
