For years the Mississippi Game and fish commission declared there were none of the big cats in Mississippi, they have now changed that stance saying the cats that are there and have been for at leat 40 years that I know of from growing up there and seeing them, are Florida strain panthers. Go figure. THey also denied for years of being any black bears in the state, now they are studying them. I know someone who hunts close to the ares of this release of the Texas cats and he says their deer population is down from the cats.
If it helps the species cool, but on some of these things I think the numbers are not what gets reported to the public.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

"Breeding rare Florida panthers with Texas cougars created tough hybrids that one scientist calls the Arnold Schwarzeneggers of cougars."
Nice job scientists! You've successfully engineered the demise of the human race...schanks a lot...

If you read between the lines, our government clearly believes that Predator is about to attack somewhere in Florida.

Intresting read, but then again, I do not want an "ultra" predator anywhere near some of my ranches. Mt. lions are enough to deal with.
