I saw some posts on here either during turkey season or last year about some homemade slate calls. My father-in-law is extremely hard to buy for for his birthday and Christmas.

He has most of everything for hunting and most of the time if he doesn't have it its because he doesn't want it. We've bought him things in the past for hunting and most of the time we hear why he hasn't bought one of those yet.

I had reached the point where I had given up. But I think I'm going to try one more time and get one of those home made calls. I remember going to the site and both the calls and strikers were beautiful, but I don't remember the site and can't find it searching through the topics.

I know a few people on this website had bought his calls. Would appreciate any tips on which calls sound better as well.

Appreciate the help.

Dogcatcher has also posted custom strikers.

Get with Marvin (Dogcatcher)

I have several of his predator calls, a grunt call as well as a turkey slate call with 2 strikers. I'm very pleased with all of them.

Thanks Longhorn for the compliments. I can make a slate call, all I make is the 3" slate pots with strikers. If you want any other kind of surface or other turkey calls check Gary at http://www.magnoliacalls.com/

Bully's Game Calls. I have only used his mouth calls and they are excellent. I called their "Custmor Service" number to discuss an order I had made and the person who answered was Seth McCollugh, the owner of the company. Great guy. He makes all the calls right at his house. The Hookbuster 3 was Field & Streams "Best Call" in the March 2010 edition.

I have Marvins call also. It is EXCELLENT and beats every over the counter call out there, imo
