thinking about getting a red cur pup. buddy has him, he is about 10 months old. was given to the friend who runs pigging curs but i believe he doesn't have much time for a newbie pup plus he is trying to keep his dogs breeding specific. this will also be a family dog, help keep my older lab mix company but also track wounded animals & get on some pigs/varmints for me.
question is.......at 10 months, still pretty trainable? most of the dogs i have had in the past were adults that were dumped off. i know i will have to work with it on the poultry and they are not for HIS food but mine.
figured id might get more in here then the bird dog area.

At that age hes ready to learn. As far as hog dog yes and if he got a good nose and you keep a lead on him he can track as a blood tracking dog.Wouldnt turn him loose after training him to find hogs and then expect him to blood trail loose.Have to keep a lead on him when blood trailing.
