I am hunting around Bagwell, TX on some timber land. I was considering planting something on the clear cut my stand is on. It is deep in the woods and is probaly 15 yrds widea and 4-500 yrds long. The light is limited but enough to keep my 12V battery charged with solar pannel.

I understand I may be too late this year, but was wondering if anyone had any advice or experience. I was looking for something that might make my area more attractive than others.

Sandy soil. It is more of a machinery path cut in the pines than a clear cut.

Oats and rye grass will grow fine. Even better with lime and fertilizer.

Dozer, mulched, and trackhoe work. Fencelines, senderos, tanks. Let me know if I can help with any dirtwork or construction.

oats, rye, wheat, etc should grow fine....sounds like you might be in a 3rd rowed place...if that's the case, you should be fine. Those places get more light in them than ppl think.

We have several food plots on our lease that are in pine plantations, most are on old skidder trails that we have mowed and made a little wide. They are no more that 20 ft wide and how ever long we want. We disc, fertilize and plant with wild life seed mix and they grow pretty good and last into May, yours should do good even with limited sun; ours do. Another thing we do is just simply mow through the pines where we can and fertilize, it helps a lot of the natural browse to grow really good and green up better, deer seem to like it alot.

If we always do, what we have always done, the we always get, what we have always gotten! Learn to adapt!

yessir, and the wider windrows can be the best stand set-ups there are.
