One of our FeederMax timers has bit the dust and we were thinking about replacing it with a Boss Buck Simple Set Timer. Are they any good? Simple minds want to know.

Thier old timers were distinct called the non typical, I really liked. It seems now that the new ones are the same as several companies out there. same set up , same look, same everything. They get them from China and put a label on them. couldn't tell you if they work. Just disapointed they went away from the controller you could fully customize.

I sell Bossbuck stuff. Yes, they are good. He got a bad batch last year that had a bad relay in them, but those have all been replaced. They do work.
Now, between you, me, and the fence post, if I have the choice in what I am putting in a buyer's feeder, I will go with "The Timer". Pretty intuitive to set up and I personally think they are slightly better than the Bossbuck ones. The bad part is they cost more too.

I run all Boss Buck timers, and love them. Very easy to set up, and easy to wire.
I had to replace one last weekend, as one of the buttons stopped working. I think it's a short or something. But they have a 2 yr warranty on their timers, so I plan to take it back and get another one.
I'd recommend them for sure. Really like them.

I have one & have been happy other than I didn't put the spinner close enough to the downspout! For those that have the 12 volt one, does yours say 6 or 12 volt on the display? Mine is 12 volt but it says 6 volt on the display?????

No better then the other Chinese made crap out there, and about the same price as the others. Like someone had mentioned, they are all produced using the same internals, and bios/rom software, just have different casings and names.
"The Timer" and "The Redneck" are both bullet proof timers, and worth the extra coin to me. And the icing on the cake is "The Timer" has a 5 year warranty.
And for LFD2037, if it is only reading 6v most of the time that is all your battery is putting out. The timer picks up the incoming voltage, and adjusts for it.

BUT I have a 12 volt motor, 12 volt battery & a solar panel????? Yep, and all will still work with a 6v battery, or possibly in your case a battery putting out 6v, it just works slower. If you have a multimeter throw it on there and check what it is reading, with the solar panel disconnected of course. Had a few guys on the lease run 6v on their feeders for years till I pointed out they were 12v motors. Should have seen their reactions when that thing went off for the first time.

Thanks for the replies guys. Bubba is going to by one tomorrow and we are going to the lease next weekend to install it and get the other two feeders converted to crank ups. We may me forced to do a little dove hunting early and late.

Have four of them, rebuild two of the four at least every year. They are a piece of [censored], bad motors, bad timers, will not stand up to the elements. Love the Boss Buck. feeders (they are a good value, especially the 1200 lb. capacity) but have given up on the timers/spinners.
