I just learned that deer see two colors, yellow and blue. What are your thoughts about this?

I sit in a box about 100 yards from where i shoot. Not too worried about it.

maybe that explains why they like corn so much
had to do it
idk i asked one he didn't answer i believe if your not in a blind you need to break up your silouete(probably not how you spell that and really that's what camo is about making you blend in that's why when you look at some camo patterns especially the new ones it kinda seems to pop out at you like your looking into a bush not just the outside so that's my .02

I've never bought into the UV part of it. My theory is, sit still and play the wind and you will be fine. Positioning your stand so you have a backdrop helps a ton too. I can't stand hunting out of boxes. I feel disconnected from everything. Would much rather be in a tripod. Rain, freezing rain, sleet or snow. I've sat threw all of them in a tripod.

I am a believer in UV and scent control. When you buy camo buy the good stuff. Check your camo with a black light and see if it glows. Use sports wash UV killer and detergent on your camo. Deer see us as little blue ghost hiding by a tree even though you have camo on. As far as scent control I ware scent-lok camo and spray down. I wash myself with scent free soap.

I've never heard about the UV stuff being for the deer. I just thought it was for hunting in texas in summer and October.

I dont buy into all of the UV issues too much. Yes deer see shades of blue and yellow. Our blinds are all enclosed box blinds so I dont worry about what I wear too much. The blinds are all painted drab earth tone colors. Heck a few are white steel. The deer dont care if you are glowing in the dark as long as they get a chance to get used to it.

When the UV inhibitors first initially came out ..it helped answer a lot of questions like...."Why no one in history has been able to succesfully kill a deer while hunting?" Thank god these products came out and this lifelong conundrum has been solved. Watch out deer we aint as dumb as you thank!

I spit snuff and whizz out of my blind. My blind sets on the edge of a 32 acre food plot and I have deer 30 yards or less almost every afternoon. I don't buy into the UV or odor control, but I'm a gun hunter. Might be different if I was a bow hunter. IMO most of the things they push is not worth using. My philosphy is feed the heck out of them with food plots and corn, that's what works for me and has for years...JMO..

Being a bow and gun hunter I take to the field w/ the weapon of choice.
If I'm using a bow the UV and scent control is used.
If I'm gun hunting I really don't care what clothes I have on unless I'm not in an elevated box blind. Then, I go as I would for archery.

I agree with Stompy, I to am a blind hunter, smokes in the stand, drinks coffee, p's in a container though, talks on the radio and phone. And gets shots at does and buck anywhere from 75 to 20yrds. I don't use scent killer or Uv blocker and the deer don't care what color a blind is once they get use to it; it could be hot pink or flame red if they like the area their gone be there. Shot a doe at 20 yrds while drinking coffee and talking on the phone to my wife with the blind door open and thats the side that the doe showed up on. Dumb doe or lucky hunter? Don't care; got meat that day!
