Should I be freaking out?

I took on a 2nd lease in Llano County…
I immediately put up 2 feeders and started feeding back in august.

I picked my stand location based on the land owner’s advice and the layout of the property.
Ever time I go down there I see or spook a deer.

Problem…
They are not going to the feeders. I probably have 300lbs of corn just sitting on the ground rotting.
I put out 2 apple blocks…NOTHING

No pictures of Does, Bucks, pigs…NOTHING

What’s the deal? Should I be freaking out?

However…
My friends Feeder is being hit heavy and hard.

Should I bite the bullet or pick up and move to a different spot?

Yep. They're doing the same at our place at Mason. Lots and lots of acorns on the ground. Deer aren't coming to the corn.

Things are really green this year and I would imagine a bumper acorn crop. Once things turn brown I bet they will be hitting your feeder.

You'll be fine. They'll start coming. It is a little surprising that there are no pigs.

If you build it, they will come.

This happens a lot. I've barely gotten anything on my camera in a couple of months...but I know they are out there. Doubt there was a massive die off, just a lot for them to eat right now.

Im suprised we just got on a new place in Burnet county and I just tossed some corn on the ground and threw a gamecam on it and caught 3 nice bucks hitting it on the first week everyday. But everyone else says they aint coming to corn due to the acorns (which this place has PLENTY of).

We put out corn and 10pound's of buck crack around my bow set the other day and I agree ton's of freakin' acorn's and they didn't really touch the corn! They ate all the buck crack and left a 3" deep hole in the ground about 2 yard's square where the buck crack was but the corn is prolly still there!

Don't start freakin' out yet. It's only September. If they don't come to the feeders in November/December I'd be worried but not yet. Too much other food around right now. Corn also produces bodyheat and with the temps still in the 90's the last thing any animal wants it up its bodyheat. Bunch of acorns this year as well. There ought to be some awsome racks this year.

My experience hunting Llano County is that you could throw a bowling ball up in the air and it'd likely come down and kill a big buck.

You'll be fine.

PS - Don't attempt the aformentioned technique, as it will damage the antlers.

Too much food around for the deer to be coming into the feeders heavy. After the acorns rot and the greenery starts to die they will come!

Don't freak out! They will find it. They rather eat natrual foods before eating corn. Be patient

For starters, I would clean up the 300lbs of rotting corn on the ground unless you want to kill your deer. JMO. Being so green in most parts of the hillcountry, most deer won't bother going to feeders.

Yeah I would definitely clean up all that corn under the feeder. My experience is the last thing you want is a lot of rotten corn where you want them to feed. It seems to turn them off. I love to scatter corn in places where there's not a feeder, but if it's gonna get rained on it's not worth it.

Build a half dozen ground blinds from natural materials in amongst the acorns. Then hunt from them till the acorns are gone. You'll probably kill a bigger buck there than you'll see at the feeder.

Practice doesn’t make perfect.
Practice makes permanent.
