Hi, Does anyone know anything about this ranch? I want to plan a hunt here this December but have had bad experiences with hunts in Texas before. Any information is greatly appreciated! http://www.deadwoodtexas.com/Thanks! Patrick

I have to say I have not been there so take the rest of my opinion based on that. After viewing the website, I would not be traveling many states over to come to it and hunt if hunting was my primary goal. Dont mean to spoil your excitement but that how I see it. Hopefully somebody with direct knowledge can give you some better insight. Good luck.

I would go to west Texas, the hill country, or south Texas brush country if you want to hunt deer. You'll spend more than they are charging but probably going to see more and bigger than a place like that. Heck, you'll be looking at the same pine trees you see in SC if you stick to east Tex. I would go with a place that strictly is run for hunting as the #1 priority.

I went out there about 5 years ago for the dove opener. I wasn't impressed. As for a trophy deer hunt I wouldn't waste my time/money. the only deer stands I saw were have azz ground boxes. might be a great place for a turkey hunt though.

Their super cheap pricing and lack of trophy pic's with a "smiling happy" hunter smells bad to me. Ask for pic's of last years buck harvest. If they can't provide, then set your expectations accordingly.

not a single photo of a hunter with a deer? seems a little odd to me. They have a few trail camera photos.... I could set up a website and post trail camera photos, how would you ever know where they are from?
if you're coming all the way to texas, there are a LOT of MUCH better places to hunt.
also, I do not know RTP from Adam... however, click on the link in his signature... that is a great area of texas to hunt. The thing I like about RTP's place is that it's a flat rate, and you are not charged per inch like the vast majority of hunts in texas. you could walk away with a 150 or 160, for a very reasonable price.
that link you posted does not look like a good place. At all.
Send me a PM if you want some contact information. I have some friends that have available hunts on ranches that are anywhere from 5000 to 16000 acres. AND, they actually have tons of photos of hunters with their kill! LOL
