One of our lease members told me to pour some corn on the ground and them pour artifical vanilla extract on it. Said the deer love it and hogs will not touch it. Said it must be artifical and not real vanilla. Real vanilla will kill a deer. ANYONE HEARD OF THIS???

Never have heard of using vanilla or anything about it being bad for deer confused2. May have to try that somewhere once just to see. Artificial, not the real stuff. Just wonder if it would really attract them. I've heard of everything else under the sun being tried.

Using vanilla extract (real or synthetic) as an attractant has been around for years. Never heard of real vanilla being lethal to deer, and even if true, I highly doubt that quantities one would use (like scent bomb, etc.) would be enough to kill a deer.

i have used it for several years now....works very well and has a pretty strong smell that works well to help cover your scent if your up close bowhunting. not so sure about the hog part though, they eat it up just the same with or without. good luck this year!

Take Care,
Bub
