I have a guy that wants to trade me two handi rifles for my glock 22. One is a scoped heavy barrel 243 and the other is the same in 223. Don't know much about the handi rifles so tell me what you guys think.

What kind of scopes. In the past average money for those rifles are right at 200. Do you value your glock at 400?

Yes both rifles are scoped but I don't know what kind of scopes they are. Gonna go look at them tomorrow. Yes I would value my glock around 400

If you value your glock at 400 then it's probally a pretty even trade.

Handi-rifles in 243 are hit or miss as far as accuracy goes. You may want to browse the Graybreard forums to find out more.

make the trade. Glock is a toy or personal defense no use. Those are nice rifles if they are in good shape. With a scope and good setup at least 250 value for each. If you hunt you will get more use out of the two rifles. Just my opinion though it comes down to personal choice. I am a huge HR fan so may be a little bias.

I've hunted with a glock, and about 15 other pistols. But you're right Gater, I usually just use them as door stops because they're not good for anything else. And if anyone ever breaks in, I'll go for the scoped bolt action in the safe rather than the XD40 in the nightstand...

Well i'm going to look at the guns tomorrow and i have more than one glock so i may go ahead and trade if the rifles are in good shape. Anyone here need a glock in good shape if the trade falls through?

I would consider a single shot rifle more of a toy than a glock. My glocks get constant use. I carry them everyday for CHL, and compete with them.

I do believe i said or personal defense. You hunt with a glock come on now. I'v killed many deer with pistols but Id laugh my [censored] off seeing you in a stand with and XD 40. If your a cop or use it everyday then its different or if you live in a bad neighborhood. But come on now if your a hunter like i said use your judegment on what is a toy and what puts meat on the table, Im not knocking on GLock i carry one in console everyday!

TB,

Check the trigger pull, some Handi's have very heavy triggers.

I'd rather have the rifles if I hunted more than chl carried.

Plus he said he has more pistols. It's a wash imo on the value of the trade.

Ive put several deer in my freezer with a Glock 20 when I lived in NY State, Ive also killed coyote, groundhogs and rabbits with it---And yes some of which have been killed from a treestand...The Glock 20 10mm is an excellent hunting handgun when you are proficient with it...

Man it never fails if I would have said I pitty the fool who has to hunt with rocks and a sling shot. There would of been that guy on this forum that gets offended and says hey I've killed 11 deer, 6 rattle snakes, 3 brown bear, 2 peacocks, and a sloth with my slingshot!

I've only killed 2 bears with my slingshot, but the rest is pretty close... bolt

I wouldn't make that trade. I'd go buy a new handi rifle for cash, and keep the Glock.

Now, if he were offering a Browning A-Bolt Stalker in 7mag with a top of the line Leoupold in good condition, I'd put the Glock in a purtty box with a big bow on it for him. nuts

If you don't own any hunting rifles and have more than one pistol, then I say go for it, depending on the brand of scopes. However if you have long guns as well and use your Glock from time to time I would keep the Glock.
