I recommend ebay. You can find good quality vintage recurves on their in the neighborhood of $150. Ben Pearson, Damon Howatt, Bear, and shakespeare are all good ones. Tradgang.com and archerytalk.com both have good classifieds where recurves are bought and sold all the time. Don't spend $400 on a new bear or martin if you can help it. Good luck

I used to have a Bear Super Magnum 48" 55 lb draw. The poundage was way to heavy and the bows limbs started to warp really fast so I returned it. if you buy one I would not go over a 45 lb draw otherwise its just a pain to pull back.

I shoot 60's all the time, but I've been doing it a long time. Start off with 48# at 28 in.. you'll be fine. It's not impossible Howard Hill used to shoot a 100 pound and back in the day of the knights some of those bows were 200 plus. Don't get a 48 in bow either, 60 in min. is best.

Get a good used one or maybe a Martin Jaguar (their cheap and well made). Traditioanl archery can be expensive, and most guys give up. If you know a traditional archer buddy up with him. If you have been shooting a compound, get a recurve or LB thats 25% less draw weight. Do your research or you will likely be disapointed. Good Luck!
