Sunday my son and I went to our hunting property in Breckenridge and tilled up three areas and planted forage oats, my question is Was this a good thing or not, we have cows on the lease and our feeders are fenced not the food plots. the areas are 20x40

It probably won't make it. Between the grasshoppers and the cows, it don't stand much of a chance. I'll wait and plant the end of the month due to the hoppers. I've planted early and seen them eat 20 acres in a month,,the hoppers that is. I sure hope it works out for you, and if it does, you were real lucky..

Ya you told me about the hoppers but that was the only time I could bet up there and really gt that done I sure hope it works, In the past I had no trouble bringing in the deer but the last couple of years I have seen a lot of hunting pressure around me and green fields in the winter. I am going to get some corn, soy and peas and pit in my feeders to You did say I can buy peas at Gorman correct

Yea but the last time I was there they were running out. I think there is a limited time to get them. Be sure and call them before you go. IMO just plain corn will do fine as long as you put enough out. I tried some small plots years ago and they come up. I didn't have them fenced off so the only thing I saw in them during deer season was cows.

We got 3" of slow soaking rain earlier this week. Ponds caught some water but not enough. It was pretty dry here, so it soaked up quick.
