Saw a news story about the city of Frisco on opening day of dove season. Said you had to have 10 acres of land, and be like 700 yards from houses and 1,000 from schools and churches. Is this a state law, and is it the same for ducks? Found a nice place to duck hunt but is inside of Seagoville city limits, but out in the country. Thanks for the help.

I think that it depends on the city ordinances.

Thanks for the info Sniper John, but still not sure if seagoville qualifies. Guess i better call the local police and ask.

Dallas County has a population of over 2 million and most of Seagoville is in Dallas County.
Sec. 229.003. REGULATION OF DISCHARGE OF WEAPON BY CERTAIN MUNICIPALITIES. (a) This section applies only to a municipality located wholly or partly in a county: (1) with a population of 450,000 or more; (2) in which all or part of a municipality with a population of one million or more is located; and (3) that is located adjacent to a county with a population of two million or more.

It would be safer to check with Seagoville PD to check on local ordinances, but Sec. 229.003 does not apply. Sec. 229.003 was written specifically to apply to Collin County. Dallas County is a county with (1) a population of 450,000 or more; (2) in which all or part of a municipality with a population of one million or more is located. However, it is not (3) located adjacent to a county with a population of two million or more. You have to have (1), (2) and (3) for Sec. 229.003 to apply.

Written to apply to Collin, but it will effect other counties. Denton currently would be one. Correct on Dallas, but almost there. looks like Tarrant is only about 210,000 thousand shy of that 2 mil mark and growing fast.
