You can used a regular smooth bore shotgun. Buy some rifled slugs, they are made for smooth bore.

If you already have a shotgun that accepts screw in choke tube I think you can buy a rifled tube. If not you can probably still shoot them as long as you don't have a full choke, I've always been told a full choke is too tight for slugs.

Obviously, a rifle barrel will be more accurate, but I have shot quite a few rifled slugs in a smooth barrel and gotten "decent" groups out to 50 yards (good enough to kill a deer or hog). I recommend Brenneke KO 1 oz slugs.

You can shoot any rifled slug through watever choke gives the best accuracy. Older shotguns(and I mean OLD) with old smooth-wall slugs had problems with excessive chamber pressure, not an issue with modern shotguns and rifled slugs. The rifling on the slug actually creates enough space to safely shoot them through any choke/barrel. Stay away from sabots with anything but a fully rifled barrel, though.

You may want to check to see if your barrel is overbored like my Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag. This is from the Mossberg webpage:
Can I fire slugs through my 935™ or 835® vent rib, Accu-Mag® choke tube barrel? No, 935™ and 835® field barrels (those with a ventilated rib) are "overbored," and the extra inside diameter may cause the projectile to "wobble" producing unreliable accuracy. A projectile may wedge inside the barrel causing an obstruction. Obstructions of any kind can cause damage to the firearm resulting in damage to the barrel and/or personal injury to you or those around you. Dedicated fully rifled slug barrels are available for the 935™ and 835® models. Other 935™ and 835® Accu-Mag® choke tube notes: Buckshot and steel-shot loads are not recommended for use with an extra full turkey tube installed.

What kind of shotgun are you shooting, and have you ever fired a slug before?

ggunn1,I've got a lease that has those rules and last year I got 20 gauge Handi Rifle with a rifled slug barrel and mounted a 3x9 Simmons scope on it.
It shoots 3" Remington buckhammers into a clover leaf pattern at 50 yards and I've killed both deer and a lot of hogs with it, and my longest shot has been about 70 yards.
It shoots so accurate I earhole the pigs, and it's no different than shooting a rifle, if you just stay within your range.
One of the other guys has a 20 gauge smooth bore single shot Handi with a modified choke and he shoots the cheaper Remington Sluggers rifled slugs and does almost as well.

I have hunted with a 12 ga. shooting 00 buck. I only used it on predators. I have a uncle up north, an that's all he hunts with. Think I would do lots out practice shooting to walk it out an see where your hitting. Good luck.

The best way to learn how your gun shoots is to shoot various brands of slugs and find out which ones shoot the best, and at various distances, and they once you know your effective range that you try to limit your setup that you won't have many if any shots beyond your effective range.
The problem with learning how to hold over for those extra long shots is knowing the distance, and that takes practice, and using a range finder helps.
Unlike a rifle where you can blow through 20 rounds, slugs tend to be quite expensive and you take a beating when you try to do a lot of shooting figuring out where to hold.
Also with a rifle, some tend to shoot better with a slightly fouled barrel and with a shotgun they shoot better with a clean barrel, so you have to clean the bore after every shot if you want a true indication of how it's shooting.
