My English Pointer got clipped by a car and broke her elbow. It looks like a fracture on the X-rays. Doc says two ways to go.... cast or surgery which would include installing some pins. Doc also says she may develop arthritis in the joint eventually. The surgery is quite a bit more expensive, which I don't mind, but will the cast do the job on a fracture sufficiently? She is a great dog, fully field trained and very sweet. What say you folks that have been through this...which way is the best way?

Man, tough call... Prayin for a speedy recovery.

I would imagine it depends on the break as to the best treatment. I would ask the vet (money aside) what would he do if it were his dog? I roll with that a lot... Good luck!
