Ok...so I bought a brand new shotgun... Remington Spartan....
The gun is jamming on the first shell....Why is that?

Not sure which one this is but do you need to be shooting high brass?

I may have to.....
It is the same as the Baikal I believe...semi auto.
made by remington.
So far all my dove hunts have been like shooting a single shot.

those need to be broken in before they cycle the lighter dove loads. go with high brass until the gun gets broken in. go shoot some skeet with duck loads - lol

I was looking for a Spartan-EEA= Baikal and read alot of good info on that shotgun. One of the main things said was to take it apart and clean real good and take extra care behind the extractor seems they had a assemble problem with metal shavings being left in the guns. And another thing that was stated is dont mess with the gas adjustments.Leave it at the factory setting.

i have owned the same gun & a friend has owned one as well. they must be broken in with about 150 rounds of heavy loads before it will cycle the light stuff. it said it in my manual. i used high brass 7.5's my first dove season out with it. once the spring gets some wear, it cycled just about every load except the real cheap stuff. also, i think we stored the gun with the action fixed open.

Imported by Remy, and they do use alot of grease to ship. Kinda like the SKS, but without the heavy grease. Neighbor had one and we broke it down. Be amazed how much grease that thing had.

It just needs some stout rounds fired through it to smooth out the tooling burrs.
