This is my first year to hunt spring turkeys and I have a lease out near San Angelo. What is the best turkey decoy type for the money? Feeding hen ve alert hen vs jake vs tom vs combination?

I had borrowed an alert hen decoy (rubber collapsible type) that is no longer available to me; it worked okay, I guess, but the toms were henned up at the time so not sure what I should get now that I need to buy one. I hear the toms and hens are separating out there now and that the toms are getting more responsive to calling.

Thanks in advance --

I'm not sure on this for I am a beginner myself, but I use to ask when I fished tournaments all the time the best lure choice and found it was already tied on my line, meaning that color is just 10 per. and shape and size is 10 per. the most important was coffidence. So with all that said I would think if you have coffidence that it looks real and ur happy with it , use it and after ur first bag then ur coffidence is there. When I bought mine that worked great,it was the feeding hen type, for they came right in on it that gave me coffidence in it. by the way it was at Academy and was the Flameua ???? or however it was spelled and was only 20.00 so good hunting partner. Hopefully this doesn't sound to stupid to ya

Any of the strutting decoys. I got a pretty boy and wouldn't think to go anywhere without it in the truck

Turkeys are strange birds i have called in and killed dozens of gobblers and some will come running in and others when they see the decoys they hang up and wait for the decoys to move or come to them. I dont use them anymore,i stay well camoed and sit in close to the brush and call. The thick brush makes it a little tougher but by the time they see me its to late!
