Does anybody know any of the landowners or dove leases off 529 and Fry road or further west. I drive home past several big crop fields on Fry road south of 290 and see hundreds of dove in the mornings and afternoons swarming in big flocks. Some of the fields are big enough to hunt, just need permission from landowner. I have done the Katy/Hockley hunts in the past and not interested in that, if the hunts starts at Bass pro shops you can almost guarantee you will see few or no birds. Thanks for any input.

There is a outfitter in that area that has a lot of the fields leased from the farmers. Think he charges $150 for early dove season. Send me a pm if you what his info.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

I havent been able to find anyone leasing in that area, and I've been trying since they cut Fry road through to 290. Those fields are all owned by developers of Brigeland and the Metropoliton Baptist Church, according to HCAD. If you ever get the chance, go by there at 9:00 am - looks like Argentina.
I aint done yet

Go ask the Pastor of the Met Baptist church if you can hunt there. You should see his office at the church if you want an indication of his view of hunting......

Follow the link and scroll down to the bottom left of the page. http://ghcof.org/events.htm#Father/Child This church has dove leases in the south zone. I've never had a lease with them but was sent the link when I was looking for a duck and goose lease.

We had a group that checked on the availability of those fields last year and the church told us no. I live across the road in Bridgeland and have to pass by there twice a day and see all of those doves. also see hogs out there when the fields are plowed.

I knew I was not the only one that saw this!! I understand why the church would be hesitant to let people with guns who they do not know roam on their property. A lot of legal crap. I wish I knew someone who was a member of the church, that would go a long way with the negotiaons. I would imagine the smaller the group the better as well, maybe a large charitable donation could change their minds...

I have dropped flyers off at churches before looking for a lease, and for the reason above, figure they want to raise some money.

Thats what I thought, why not let the church get a piece of the hunting pie...

I guess we can either go shoot the doves and ask for forgiveness or join the church because they were out there shooting doves when I went home yesterday.

I have not seen any signs either. I talked to a outfitter named Tim Crawley that said he had fields off Fry road and in Waller that were fairly productive this year. I have been considering trying a hunt with him, only $50 a day. If anyone wants to try it with me, let me know. Maybe we can get a group rate.
