I've had one bad experience with one.. not guilty, just kind of expect someone that enforces game laws to actually know them and how they apply to mld3 properties. Other than that one fella that is no longer around, no issues and don't mind seeing them.

The only GWs I have ever been checked by were down in Nacogdoches County..and older man that I can't remember his name...Hamm maybe? if bird hunting in that area we talked about it was probably Tom Jackson.

I never meet a bad GW in TX. Had one that was a little grumpy with me for a little while but thats becuase i had a bad habitit of not calling in when yote hunting. He game his cell phone finally and said just text him and then I help introduce him to 6 ranchers, and get him unstuck on a ranch one time, he ended up being a really good guy. Can you explain the "not calling in when yote hunting"? I have never heard that you should call anyone... Thanks This is just a nice way of letting him know your shooting at night. So he doesnt have to wake up from a phone call about some one shooting. It's just a friendly phone call, so he can have his goods night rest. thats all. Yelp. I was hunting about 7 different properties, I thought it was a hassle on my part. But when he let me know the thrid time he came out that he lived 23 miles away and that he really needs his beauty rest and his wife would be happier... I finally got the reason why He really was a great guy... he even reffered me to a couple of ranchers that where having yote issues. As a kid i never really realized how a hard of a job they have until i was pulled over one day coming out of a ranch. The assitant patted me down while the warden had his hands in his jacket.... After the pat down he removed his pistol from the pocket and put it up.. Guess thats when i finally realized they got a tough scary job. I kind of look at GW's now like the boss at work.... 10/10 you get fired from work... you fired your self. 10/10 you get a ticketed...you ticketed yourself. If you ever get in a bind in the woods... GW may be your best bet on getting back to your family safetly... They know their country very well... and thats who i want looking for me when i'm in a bind..just saying
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, b/c they know not victory nor defeat"- #26 TR

I Def agree with yall, theres something to be said for a warden, or any LEO that goes above and beyond the usual "license and registration please". GW's for sure got it tough walking up on random armed people as their job! After they find out your not felons or poachers i really appreciate being treated well. And if you hunt public, wardens usually know the best spots!

And if you hunt public, wardens usually know the best spots! And the wardens who share this information with Joe Public should be fired and hung out to dry. Had a warden tell everyone one on the lake where I was layin into the crappie this year. By the next day I couldn't get my boat in there and I had been fishing that spot by my self for weeks.

Had a real great GW here a few years ago. Would nail his Grandma if he caught her over the limit (:-) but was a super fellow to work with. Transferred out to an area that had WATER, something that we are a bit short on here. His "always ready to help" attitude got him in a mess near Putnam one time. In the middle of dove season, he stopped to help some broke down folks who turned out to be drunker then Cooter Brown. Ended up calling a deputy and they hauled them all in. Started to walk out of the SO and get back to work. Deputy pointed at the the desk and said " Your arrest, your paperwork" Told me later that he had learned his lesson. Unless he saw a shotgun or bird feathers, he was just going wave and keep going. :-)

This may be a little long but I found it funny and I am bored. First, the GW out in Woodson was polite and educational. We took nine guys out from work on opening day and a couple were first timers. One guy got a license but no hunter ed so GW wrote him a warning. We told them to make sure they got a bird stamp so the other guy got a bird stamp... just a bird stamp. No license.. nada. The GW actually got a good chuckle and let him continue to hunt for the day after hearing the story. Maybe it was because the guy was a fireman and a Marine but we did get the hunting license after the morning hunt. Could have been a bad day for a couple of guys but I think he saw we were not trying to buck the system. Bottom line great GW in Woodson.

There for a while we had a GW in Menard that left a little to be desired, but the guy we have now is a real class act.

Checked Wed. and Thurs. Wed. young GW walked in from the gate(1/4 mile),and Thurs. an older GW along with what looked like new recruit Drove in from the gate. All of the GWs were professional and friendly. They have a tough job knowing that everyone they they deal with during hunting season has a firearm .
